Posted Feb 9, 2010 by AppleWhen the iPhone made its debut on January 9, 2007, nobody imagined the potential could be reached as handheld game console.
A study by Game Developer Research, Apple would be winning the battle for portable gaming consoles, passing over the large and Nintendo (with its Nintendo DS) and Sony (who has the Sony PSP). Not bad if you think that it is not a device created specifically for play, but a mobile phone.
The data show that about 75% of the developers make games for the iPhone and iPod Touch, which means that the platform already has about 19% of the market game development. Other interesting facts are that portable video gaming accounting for 25% of all video game market and that over the last three quarters, the majority of video games created for a mobile platform are exclusive for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
And this market could grow much more, it is hoped that in future technology development around the Smartphone improve much more,-increasing the ability to run games more efficiently and with better quality.
Do you use your iPhone or iPod Touch for playing games or prefer the traditional handheld console?
