Go and Objective-C, the fastest growing languages in 2009 (according TIOBE)
Posted Feb 9, 2010 by TimThe TIOBE Programming Community Index is a well known monthly list of most popular programming languages. The list is obtained by searching by name (language) on Google
First, Go and objectivism-C are the fastest growing languages over the last twelve months. What is the reason? Go is a language promoted by Google, giving it an undeniable advantage in terms of media coverage. For their part, aim-C is the language of the iPhone, once more, its advantages over other languages is obvious. I repeat, do not forget that the results are linked to the popularity of each language on the net. From the list we can get:
The fastest growing languages in 2009
1.
Go. The concurrent language sponsored by Google, recently joined GNU GCC.
2.
Objectivism-C. The object-oriented language promoted by Apple in its products. The suite includes a GNU GCC compiler for this language.
3.
Lisp / Scheme. Related languages to be found in Android, for example. They are classical languages to implement applications of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science in general.
4.
Matlab. Commercial language widely used in engineering. Octave and Scilab are free software alternatives to that language.
5.
PHP. The web programming language par excellence. The web has changed since it was released PHP to automate the creation of HTML code.
The languages that will soon reach the Top 20
* Scratch. Teaching language developed at MIT.
* Erlang. Specializes in concurrent programming language. Used in mobile telephony.
Scala. Functional language, object-oriented. Twitter uses it.
* JavaFX Script. Oracle Sun technology to compete with Flash and Silverlight.
The first three places on the list are not surprising, are occupied by Java, C and PHP, respectively. The lists of any kind create different sides of opinion, that of TIOBE is no exception. However, the network can find ready alternatives that we can compare methodologies and results.
What is your favorite programming language? Mine is called Python.
