(UpVery.com) Feb 11, 2010 -- The network is being used today for many things and among them we found that on several occasions has been the means used by many to protest in countries where freedoms are arrested by order of the despot who tap. One of the most notorious cases of this type was the one that occurred recently in Iran, where thousands of people staged protests and alleged abuses in the last election using Facebook, Twitter and other tools of the network.

Well, now the Iranian regime is beginning to bear against the freedom of the Net, which had already announced at other times they would do with the difference that this time being met. The first elected to veto by the Government of Iran has been nothing that Gmail, the popular email service owned by Google.

According to statements from the people of Google Gmail users have told Iran that they are having trouble accessing the service. In addition, the Wall Street Journal says that the Iranian authorities have announced yesterday during a "complete suspension" of access to Gmail, which seems to be already happening as shown by the investigations of Google who found a steep decline in mail traffic address in the country.

What say Iran? As well as the Wall Street Journal the authorities have announced the creation of a self-service email and therefore veto the latter as Gmail, is to promote national technological industry, which not even they believe it just happened to coincide measures with the 31st anniversary celebrations of the Iranian revolution and the call for protests against the regime in the country by the opposition.

In conclusion I would go for a sentence of P.J. Crowley, spokesman for the U.S. State Department, who said in relation to this case:

The virtual walls are not more useful in the next century that physical walls in the twentieth century
