Rumor: New Mac Pro six cores in a few days
Posted Mar 11, 2010 by JaneAccording to reports ZDNet, would receive rumors about the release of an update to the line of Mac Pro, as soon as Tuesday 16th next week
The Mac Pro line represents the most advanced hardware that provides Apple consumer market, and also more expensive. Their current models have Quad-Core Intel Xeon, which as the name suggests is one of four cores, thus leading processing power up to 3.6GHz.
The "hexacore" Xeon Core i7-980x has the following characteristics:
* 3.33GHz (TurboBoost to 3.6GHz)
* 6 cores / 12 threads
* 32nm architecture
* Socket LGA1366
* 130W TDP
While none of the rumors bases its origin, we can speculate positively about this possibility taking into account the date of last update of this line, almost a year ago, on 3 March 2009. Also remember that last month had already speculated on the incorporation of new technology.
